The World of Sand One

Sand One

The Doll Maker of Los Angeles

Sand One in her studio beside her original Sand Dolls artwork
The artist. The dolls. A world of my own.

My name is Sand. This is my world.

I paint for the independent woman of today.

The woman who keeps going. The woman who trusts her own voice, makes her own way, and stands up for what feels right to her. There is a little of her in every doll I paint.

I grew up in East Los Angeles, surrounded by murals and raised by my little four-foot-eight mother. I dreamed of painting my dolls on walls and sharing them with people far beyond my neighborhood. That dream still lives in every piece I create.

My dolls begin in my imagination, but their feelings are real: ambition, tenderness, heartbreak, confidence, and the courage to begin again. I give those feelings a face. Each doll has her own expression, her own story, and a place in the world I am building.

In my studio, an idea becomes a drawing, a painting, and sometimes a piece you can carry with you. I want my art to be part of your everyday life—the bag beside you, the cup on your desk, the painting you come home to.

When you collect a Sand Doll, something from my imagination becomes part of your story. Thank you for seeing my art, supporting my work, and taking a little Sand with you on your journey.

Don’t stay static.
With love, Sand
